Driving / Birthdays

Realization -

When you've only got your 'L' lisence, and you're having your driving lesson on the road, everybody wants to get out of your way.

Which is pretty cool, because you can be driving on a three-lane road, and there'd be this huge space around you, and you can drive reeeeaaaal sloooooow, and no one sounds the horn at you.
They just try and overtake you, if it looks safe.

Better yet, even huge 12-tyre lorries give you special treatment, because they fear for your life more than you do your own.

Contrary to what everyone thinks, driving with an 'L' license is the safest thing there is.

Safe for you, danger to the other road users.

* * * * *

So it's that time of the year again. Where 6 friends have their birthdays all within one to two weeks of each other. It's pretty much a time of celebration, of cakes and candles and 'Happy Birthday To You's.

Last year, we had cake so often, it kind of lost its 'once a while' appeal after the whole thing ended.

I was telling my mom about it, and she thinks that we're not thinking very wisely, to spend money on food and cakes so often, and to try and think of new ways to celebrate someone's birthday.

Everytime a friend's birthday comes up, I'd wonder aloud during dinner, about making that upcoming birthday different from the other birthdays. And my mom would, almost always, reply, "Don't stress yourself organizing these things la. It would take up a lot of your time."

Not that I stress myself ('cause I don't, not too much), and not that I'm the one organizing the celebrations ('cause I'm not), but she says that 'cause I wonder aloud like that pretty often.

But that's not the point.

It's like one of those awfully sad things, you know, if nobody celebrates your birthday with you. I think, at some point, we'd start imagining how awful it would be to have your birthday go by, just like that. So we kind of take it upon ourselves to celebrate every birthday.

But I think it's nice, that people make it a point to celebrate everybody's birthday.

The not-so-nice part, though, is the all-credit-no-debit thing that happens to your wallet.

(Note to self : Must collect money.)

But it's worth every cent, when at the end of the day, everyone goes home happy, with smiles on faces and cakes in stomach.

There're still a few more birthdays to go, and I cannot wait!

(There are only so many birthdays you can celebrate in a lifetime, you know.)

(When you're 99, you'd regret not celebrating birthdays more "back in those days".)

WELCOME!

Sit back, put your feet up, and read whatever ramblings of Chooiyen.

Grab a cuppa while you're at it, too.
Because Chooiyen has got a lot to say!

Why do I have huge fonts?
It makes for an easier read, d'oh.

Apparently, huge fonts are ugly. *Shrugs
